No SEMA in Vegas? No problem. Toyota introduced that in early November it will have a virtual press conference as part of the 2020 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) SEMA360 Showcase. Toyota will be doing two waves of car reveals and the first wave included a particular build that caught our eyes—the 4WD Toyota Owner magazine Overland Tacoma.

The goal and vision of the Tacoma was to be the ultimate outdoor lifestyle rig. With the rising popularity of overlanding the editors at 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine built the Tacoma with a number of upgrades that align with the Tacoma’s “go anywhere now” personality. Their build begins with a Tacoma TRD Pro and fitted it with ToyTec BOSS Aluma 2.5 Series coilovers, shocks and add-a-leaf package; Toyota E-locker locking differential; CBI Offroad Fabrication lower control arms, front and rear aluminum and steel skid plates, and Camburg Engineering upper control arms.

In the exterior you’ll find BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 255/85R16 wrapping our 704 Trail Series wheels which utilizes our patented Bead Grip® technology that engages tire bead for increased grip at low tire pressures. The wheels also feature an aggressive safety hump on bead seats that will further prevents de-beading and a reinforced inner lip that was taken directly from MRW race wheel technology for increased strength.

Additionally the Tacoma gets a facelift with a CBI Offroad Fabrication T3 aluminum front bumper and T3 Swing Arm Series steel rear bumper with dual swingouts, a ComeUp SEAL Gen2 9.5rs winch,  20-inch Rigid Industries SR Pro light bar in the front bumper and a Truck Covers USA locking cargo bed cover and rack system and a Yakima SkyLine bed rack.

Overlanders will appreciate the PowerTank air compressors, a Rotopax fuel storage and a two-gallon Rotopax water storage container and a Yakima SkyRise cargo bed tent. With all the added weight of accessories, a nice Magnuson Supercharger Roots-type TVS1900 blower gives this Tacoma a bumper in power of 370hp and 330 lb-ft. of torque.

We think 4WD Toyota Owner magazine nailed it with this build and checked every box a outlander could ever want and yes that includes wheel choice. SEMA may not be happening in Vegas this year, but at least we still have the Internet to see this overlanding eye candy.
